Our Visit To Kamjan and Gostivar

After our visit to Nova Celo, we traveled to Kamjan (Nevzat's & Magbule's village). We visited Magbule's clinic (she is in family practice)and had coffee in a nearby restaurant. Here are pictures from that visit.

We left Kamjan and drove to Gostivar. While we were waiting for Margo
to finish with her clinic patients, we walked around Gostivar. Gostivar
has a new mayor; and the city has changed dramatically since we left
1 1/2 years ago. Just goes to prove what can be done with good
leadership. The same is true of the district where Nevzat is mayor.

WE HAD EATEN TOO MUCH TO HAVE A
HAMBURGER AT THE DALLAS CAFE ---
BUT IT IS STILL THERE AND WE WILL
TAKE MARY BETH AGAIN SO THAT SHE
CAN HAVE HER DALLAS HAMBURGER.




These 3 Roma children were in the park in the center of town. They were SOOO young to be smoking. Shelia went over to them and asked them if their mothers knew they were smoking. They said that she didn't and that they had bought the cigarettes with change someone had given them. Shelia talked to them about what the cigarettes would do to them and how bad it was that they were smoking at all. At least she was able to get them to put out the cigarettes, didn't have any more money to buy them - not at the moment anyway - and wanted their picture made. In the midst of all of the changes we saw in Gostivar, there are still many problems to be addressed.
