Do you see what we have here? Ballots!!!!
We started about 2 1/2 months ago to register to vote in the election next Tuesday. We sent in all the papers - twice. The first time they were not received, so we started the whole process again. Finally we were notified that the ballots had been mailed.
However, we had several Macedonian holidays during the mailing process time so we knew there might be delays. Arville's ballot finally came last week --- but not mine! So we waited until today to mail his ballot so that we wouldn't have to pay FedEX charges twice. We went to the mailbox this morning and my ballot was there!!!
This is the first time we have voted from overseas. It has always worked out in previous years that we have been in the US during election times (presidential elections at least). So it was an interesting experience.
We have lived in many places where voting is NOT done lightly and in places where people have voted for the first time in their lives -- even though they might be sixty years old. Can you imagine - not having this privilege that we many times take for granted?
So it was with JOY that we paid that $75 today to FedEx our ballots so that they will count in this year's election.
GO VOTE!!! It's your privilege and don't take it lightly.
